Family Area Renovation
This was our personal passion project, where we designed and built a flexible indoor/outdoor living area, incorporating passive design elements for comfort and energy efficiency.

An Overview
We transformed what was once a series of small, disjointed rooms into an open-plan living space that maximises natural light and airflow. The north-facing aspect, with floor-to-ceiling bi-fold glass doors, floods the area with warmth during the winter months and keeps it cool in the summer — all without relying heavily on the heat pump. The full-width staircase adds a luxurious touch and improves functionality, creating an easy flow between the levels.
A custom-made recycled timber benchtop, handcrafted by Robbie, serves as both bench space and a dining table, embodying our ethos of sustainable, functional design. Timber shelving above the windows adds both interest and practicality, extending the window ledge to create space for a herb garden or decorative ornaments. This renovation showcases our commitment to blending beauty, sustainability, and innovation in a space that is perfect for family living and entertaining.
